Thomas R. Covert is an assistant professor at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business. He studies investment behavior in energy markets, with a focus on the role of regulation in determining the information and incentives available to energy producing firms. His current research examines how mandated information disclosure affects the speed at which oil companies learn to use hydraulic fracturing technology. In ongoing work with co-authors at MIT, he also studies the impact of mandated information disclosure in financial market performance. Thom received an S.B. in Mathematics from MIT and a Ph.D. in Business Economics from Harvard University. In the fall of 2015, he will join the faculty of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business as an Assistant Professor of Microeconomics.
