Richard Cooper (1934-2020)

Richard Cooper was the Maurits C. Boas Professor of International Economics in the Department of Economics. Professor Cooper’s primary research interests were in international economics, including both international trade and international monetary economics. His fundamental interest in the world economy lead to an interest in all environmental issues that require international cooperation to deal with effectively. His main focus in this regard was public policy toward global climate change as reflected in his working paper International Approaches to Global Climate Change. Professor Cooper taught a new freshman seminar titled “Public Policy Approaches to Global Climate Change.”
