Data Science Manager at athenahealth
Matthew Ranson is a Data Science Manager at athenahealth, where his goal is to apply econometrics and machine learning techniques to electronic medical records and billing datasets to help doctors and hospitals make better financial and patient care desicisons. Prior to athenahealth, he worked as an Associate in the Environment and Resources Division at Abt Associates Inc. His primary research interests include non-market valuation, climate change, toxic air pollution, and housing. His dissertation research focused on developing a new "discontinuity matching" methodology for identification of marginal willingness to pay in hedonic property value models. Ranson holds a PhD in Public Policy from Harvard University, and an AB in Environmental Science and Public Policy and Economics from Harvard University.
