Eleanor Krause joined the faculty at the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics as an assistant professor of economics after receiving her Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2024. Her research applies the insights and methods from public, labor, and urban economics to study questions related to the environment, economic opportunity, and spatial inequality. She has worked on a range of topics, including the labor market consequences of the decline in coal, the determinants of regional economic performance, and the impact of housing markets on population mobility and environmental valuation. Previously, she conducted research for the Brookings Institution and the World Resources Institute. Krause received an M.P.A. from the University of Washington, and she holds a B.A. and a B.S. from the University of Vermont.
