Daniel is interested in environmental and natural resource economics, public finance and development economics. In particular, he is interested in how taxes and subsidies in developing countries can have perverse effects on the environment and how social policy and environmental policy interact in the developing country setting. His prior research experience includes looking at the effects on households of a carbon tax as part of a deficit reduction plan in the United States, evaluating conservation policy in Latin America, and estimating the value of natural resources in the Gulf of Mexico. Before coming here, Daniel studied economics and mathematics at the University of Maryland - College Park and worked at Resources for the Future. Daniel has accepted a position as Lead Analyst, Venture Fellowship Program, at National Grid beginning in the Fall of 2019.
