Magdalena is interested in the study of Political Economy as it relates to social movements, representation of historically underrepresented groups, and the politics of climate change. She holds an M.A. in Economics from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where she was awarded Maximum Distinction for her thesis on the Impact of the Women’s March on the U.S. House Election. Prior to beginning her Ph.D., Magdalena spent three years working as a Senior Research Specialist at the Busara Center in Nairobi, Kenya, on projects related to unconditional cash transfers, Covid-19 economic impact, and international migration through education.
