 Professor Allcott is an applied microeconomist who studies topics in behavioral economics, environmental economics, public economics, and industrial organization. He is a Senior Principal Researcher at [Microsoft Research](https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNHvkzDKSu0l-GsgZhzoLI02WxnDDA), an Associate Professor of Economics at [New York University](http://www.google.com/url?q=http://econ.as.nyu.edu/page/home&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNFKkBKX94-575zP5BUA6tIVUglT2w), a Research Associate at the [National Bureau of Economic Research](http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.nber.org/&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNFlSNlDp88ubEGFNgWWB5Zb9Yq9Jg), and a Co-Editor of the Journal of Public Economics. He is a Scientific Director of [ideas42](http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.ideas42.org&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNE3WG5hQVdcUl-kwjkT5JjsbPprGg), a think tank that applies insights from psychology and economics to business and policy design problems, an Affiliate of [Poverty Action Lab](http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.povertyactionlab.org/&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNEvxSq-xeHaktt_H7_P6IQlfsvdfA), a network of researchers who use randomized evaluations to answer critical policy questions in the fight against poverty, and a Faculty Affiliate of [E2e](http://www.google.com/url?q=http://e2e.haas.berkeley.edu/&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNETN1jqgLaUGuZF2ACLooUNHUvFbg), a group of economists, engineers, and behavioral scientists focused on evaluating and improving energy efficiency policy. He was a Contributing Author on the [Fifth Assessment Report](https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.ipcc.ch/site/assets/uploads/2018/02/ipcc_wg3_ar5_full.pdf&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNGv3ATajRfVhAPpLHQQeEkDB33utg) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

 Professor Allcott holds a PhD from Harvard University and a BS and MS from Stanford University.
